Q: What is Power Yoga?
A: Power Yoga is a dynamic vinyasa practice and a full body workout. An offshoot of Ashtanga Yoga, it has many of the same qualities and benefits, including building internal heat, increased stamina, strength, and flexibility, as well as reducing stress. Each class is inspired by Baron Baptiste’s “Journey into Power” sequence. The alignment principles are presented in a clear and concise way, enabling students to experience the power associated with physicality, movement and breath.
Q: I am an absolute beginner. Can I come?
A: Of course you can! This invigorating yoga style works for all ages, body types, and physical abilities.
I will always give various options you can choose from to suit your own level. Also, be kind to yourself and remember that you don't have to get everything straight away. Yoga is a journey and you will be able to experience progress and benefits with a regular practice.
Q: I am not flexible. Can I still do Yoga?
A: Yes, absolutely! Yoga is about tuning in with yourself, connecting at a deeper level, accepting where you are right now and letting go. The main goal of Power Yoga is to build and maintain physical and spiritual vitality. With regular practice, you will notice your body and mind releasing tension and naturally increasing your range of motion.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Please wear comfortable workout clothes you are happy to sweat in! Please leave your shoes at reception and take your socks off once the class starts to establish a strong foundation with the four corners of your feet on to the mat.
The studio has lockers, changing rooms and showers (bring your own towel).
Q: What should I bring?
A: Yoga mats and props are provided (of course you can bring your own mat if you prefer).
A towel and a bottle of water to keep hydrated after the class are recommended.
Please come on an empty stomach.
And most importantly, don't forget to bring a smile on your face :-)
